Getting back to the “new normal”

It’s been a long month, but we finally had a glimmer of hope on the news last night. Dr. Henry addressed personal care services when talking about “the new normal.”
Activities such as non-urgent medical or personal service appointments and working in close quarters jobs such as film production would be possible — with precautions.

She used dentists, massage therapists and hair stylists as examples, suggesting that we would need to see fewer clients and keep enough space between staff. Our wheels are already turning about how we can accommodate you guys safely in our waiting room, possibly by adding additional seating outside. We may have to send Heavy D back to the corner station to keep the barbers a good distance apart, but as of now, there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Departure Bay is getting back to it
We were really amped to hear our neighbours Drip Coffee Social were able to re-open this week!
They have rigged up a great system that keeps a safe distance between all the customers, and makes the whole process pretty much contactless. I was so happy to finally have a latte after a whole month, and that treat did not disappoint! Coffees are just better by the beach, right?

We are really trying to keep cool and not get too excited about the possibility of opening in the next few weeks. But honestly, we are really relieved to hear things are in motion for the personal care industry.
