From kids cuts to COVID-19 policies, below are a few of the most common questions we hear around the shop!

My two year old needs a haircut, can we book?

Effective November 12, 2021, we will no longer be accepting new clients under the age of 12. Our existing kids clientele are always welcome in the shop, but there are other Nanaimo based barbers who specialize in young clients.

If you are looking for a service for a child aged 0-11, we highly recommend checking out one of these locally owned businesses:

These establishments offer kids rates and have very talented barbers.

Regardless of age, we will not cut anyone’s hair who does not want a haircut.

Additionally, for the safety of our barbers and the experience of our other patrons, we will not cut anyone’s hair who screams/cries/wiggles during their service.

 

Why do I have to leave my email and phone number to book?

Our online booking system (Square) requires an email or phone number so we can communicate with you. We send out reminder texts and our policies through Square, but we will not share your information or use it to send promotional materials.

We are also required by WorkSafe BC to collect contact info as part of our COVID-19 Safety Plan.

Do you cut women's hair?

We are short hair specialists.

We cut anyone’s hair who wants one of our three hair services: buzz cut, haircut or skin fade (we also buzz off undercuts and side shaves).



We recommend visiting a salon if you are looking for any styles around (or past) the shoulders, or are seeking a soft/layered cut. As long as you’re looking for something short, sharp, wash and wear, we can help you out.

We have a collection of cards from salons in our area, both home-based and storefront. We are happy to make recommendations for you in the event we do not offer your preferred cut.

How long does a haircut take?

We want to ensure that our barbers have enough time to achieve the look you want. Our cuts range from 15 – 45 minutes depending on the service. We also require extra time between clients to sanitize, so length of service will vary from client to client.

If you are looking for a short and quick cut, we can make recommendations for other great shops in the area.

I booked a "haircut” but I want a high and tight, did I choose the right service?

Yes! Our haircut service is any tapered cut starting at a .5 guard length and up. You can check out our Instagram if you’d like to see examples of our work.

HAIRCUT: tapered with length on top. If you’re looking for a caesar, a crop or a flat-top, this is the service to choose.



SKIN FADE: tapered out to skin with sharp lines + 15 extra minutes to perfect the service. If you’re looking for a bald fade, or zero fade, this is the service to choose.



BUZZ CUT: one clipper length all over. There is no taper with this service, it’s a simple, single length cut.

Do you take walk-ins?

We accept walk-ins if we can, but we still collect your name and contact info when you arrive. Since we are off the beaten track, we don’t typically get a lot of people just walking by, so we recommend calling or booking an appointment online before you head down.

I don’t agree with some of your COVID-19 policies. Will you make exceptions?

We know that our COVID-19 policies are extensive, but we have them in place because we want to maintain as safe of an environment for our clients and staff as possible.

We followed recommendations made by WorkSafe BC to create our Safety Plan back in the May of 2020, and have been very lucky in that the majority of our clients have accepted our new policies.

However, we cannot make everyone happy, and we understand that. If you do not agree with our choices, you are welcome to go to another shop.

We all have different opinions about this pandemic, and we encourage you to support businesses that align with your values. But if you do not appreciate how we’ve handled things, know that we will not tolerate any bullying, harassment or verbal abuse in our shop. We reserve the right to refuse service to those who do not comply with our policies or act in a disrespectful manner towards our staff.
